Royal

The Royal Collection are pieces inspired by royal families or celebrities. this piece was inspired by Grace Kelly and Prince Renier’s love story. In 1956 Grace was set to star in the movie ‘High Society’ filmed in nearby Newport, RI also starring Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra. Initially Grace’s ring was supposed to be costume and upon learning this Grace’s fiancé, Prince Rainier III of Monaco commissioned Cartier to have the real one made. The ring is one of the most accurate and iconic representations of the Art Deco Movement. After studying the Kelly/Rainier diamond for almost a year and in cooperation with Cartier, the Gemological Institute of America, the International Gemological Institute and the Country of Monaco, I built this magnificent 5+ carat piece in solid platinum.
